West Haven couple celebrates 70th anniversary
Harold and Afton Bluemel will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary. Family and friends are welcome to attend an open house in their honor from 3 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23, at the Pheasant Meadows LDS Church, 4775 S. 4875 West, West Haven.
They were married on Feb. 23, 1943, in Paris, Idaho. Their vows were solemnized in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on June 1, 1944.
He is and has been self-employed, owning Bluemel Auto Repair for more than 50 years. His sons Terry Bluemel and Ron Bluemel have worked with him through these many years.
She is a homemaker and a bookkeeper for the family business.
Both have served in various ward and stake positions as active members of the LDS Church. He served as bishop for eight years. Both bowled in leagues for 50 years and enjoy camping. They are avid fishermen. Their interests include family get-togethers.
Their children and their spouses are Ray and Sherry Meibos, West Warren; Ron and Margo Bluemel, Hooper; Terry and Nancy Bluemel, West Haven; and David and Cindy Howard, St. George.
They have 18 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
