Jes and Martha Morrise of Roy celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Thursday, Feb. 14.
They were married in Hollywood, Calif., on Valentine’s Day, 1953. Their vows were later solemnized in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Salt Lake Temple.
He was born in West Hollywood, graduating from Hollywood High School. He served with the U.S. Army in Korea during the war, worked for Douglas Aircraft, Boeing and other defense related industries. He is a Brigham Young University graduate. He retired in 2010 after 36 years with Defense Contracts Administrative Services in Salt Lake City.
She was born in Melba, Idaho. She graduated from BYU and worked for Weber County Schools and Utah State Youth Corrections.
Their children and spouses are Mark and Florence Fairbanks Morrise, Marshall and Susan Hall Morrise, Matthew and Judy Arrington Morrise, Geoffrey and Victoria Felt Morrise, Michelle and Stan Bassett, and Scott and Glenda Trexler Morrise. They have 24 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren with two on the way.
