The letter to the editor of Feb. 17 paper stating that since only smoothbore muzzle loaders were available at the inception of the Constitution, only they are protected ("Get a muzzle loader and start marching"). We should all disagree. If that were true, the right to free speech would be limited to the medium of the time also. You'd have to go to the town square and get on top of a wooden box to speak out. There was no mass media or widespread communications, broadcast or otherwise, back then. The writer is using the First Amendment to attack the Second.
