OGDEN -- A 28-year-old woman managed to escape a man who allegedly tried to sexually assault her in the early hours Sunday.
Ogden Police Lt. Tony Fox said the victim went to a friend's house after leaving a nightclub around 2:30 a.m.
Percy L. Wilder, 42, was at the home as well.
Wilder asked the victim to go outside, so they could talk.
The victim said she got into Wilder's car to escape the cold, but Wilder decided to drive off.
Once in the car, Wilder told the victim to undress.
When she refused, he threatened to hurt her. She told police Wilder proceeded to grab and fondle her. The victim managed to jump out of the car near the 200 block of 28th Street and ran to the door of an apartment, police said.
Wilder chased the victim, grabbed her by her hair and tried to drag her back to the car.
During the commotion, neighbors began opening their doors to see what was happening.
As people became aware of the situation, Wilder punched the victim in the face, then ran to his car and drove away.
Fox said the victim has bruising and swelling on her face that corroborates her story.
Using a description of Wilder, police were able to capture him shortly after the incident.
Police booked Wilder into Weber County Jail on suspicion of kidnapping and aggravated sexual assault.
