Roy driver looks down, crashes into fence

ROY — A vinyl fence at a home in Roy was damaged Tuesday afternoon when it was struck by a car.

The accident occurred at 2:10 p.m. at 3200 West and 5600 South, said Roy Police Sgt. Shane Hubbard. A man driving a 1985 Ford LTD was going east on 5600 South when he looked down at the vehicle’s ignition, then looked up as the vehicle struck the fence, Hubbard said.

The car ended up in the backyard of the residence.

Neither the driver nor the occupants of the home were hurt. The driver was cited for improper lookout. The fence had about $2,000 in damage.
