NORTH SALT LAKE -- A rollover accident involving a dump truck occurred about 8 a.m. Wednesday.
Bountiful Police Chief Steve Kubisch said a 10-wheel dump truck was heading down Eagle Ridge Drive before reaching U.S. 89 when it rolled into a shopping center parking lot and landed on a pickup truck.
The driver of the dump truck was trapped for 38 minutes before emergency crews could get him out. The dump truck driver received injuries to his back and legs and was taken to Intermountain Medical Center.
The driver of the pickup received minor injuries but got out of the truck on his own.
"He was just sitting there, parked in a parking lot, when this dump truck landed on top of him," Kubisch said. "It was pretty scary for him."
The Utah Highway Patrol and North Salt Lake Police Department are currently investigating the accident.
