Bees lose in OT, play Logan

BRIGHAM CITY -- The Box Elder Bees tuned up for the rest of their season with what turned out to be a tough overtime loss to Region 5 champion Mountain Crest.

A late lead slipped away on Wednesday, with Box Elder falling 63-60 in OT.

The Bees now play at Logan at 7 p.m. tonight for a chance to play in the state 4-A play-in game on Friday.

Tyler Crosbie scored 18 points and Tanner Knowles added 16 for the Mustangs, who fell behind the OT period but battled back to take a 3-point lead.

The Bees ended up with two shots at tying the game, with the final one rimming out.

Tyler Bate scored 15 to pace Box Elder, with Shad Watson added 13, Darius McFarland checking in with 11, Isaace Malone added 10 and Jarom Mecham adding enine.

* BONNEVILLE 64, LOGAN 62: At Logan, the Lakers outscored the Grizzlies 28-8 in the fourth quarter and held on for a two-point road victory.

Dakota Buckway hit six 3-pointers and scored 18 points to lead Bonneville, which had four players reach double figures.

Sealune Erskin added 17 points, Carson Smith had 12 and Mason Rich had 10 for the Lakers.

Tyler Brimhall had 19 points for the Grizzlies and Luke Faulk added 13.

* SKY VIEW 70, ROY 33: At Smithfield, the Bobcats took a 23-7 lead after the first quarter and went ahead 38-15 at halftime.

Ty Nielsen had 17 points for Sky View and Matt Dewey added 16.

Brekkott Chapman led the Royals with nine points. He hit a pair of 3-pointers.

Region 17

* ST. JOSEPH 86, MOUNT VERNON 35: At Ogden, Ty Evans scored 19 points and added 11 rebounds and six assists for the Jayhawks, who blew by Mount Vernon in ahome victory.

Zach Johnson added 10 points, five rebounds a steal and a blocked shot in limited minutes.

Chris O'Brien hit three 3 pointers and teammate David Donlevey had six assists.

The Jayhawks, who played 12 players on the night, broke out to a 26-6 lead after the first quarter and led 55-17 at the break.

St. Joseph is now locked in as No. 2 team in Region 17.
