Cosmetology bill will move to House

SALT LAKE CITY — A House committee has given a favorable recommendation to legislation designed to reduce the number of hours required to be licensed as a cosmetologist from 2,000 to 1,600 hours and adds an exemption from licensure for those who braid hair.

The bill, HB 238, cleared a House committee by a unanimous vote Tuesday and will now go to the House for further review. Rep. James Dunningan, R-Taylorsville, is the bill’s sponsor.
