Man arrested for posting threats against Layton mall on Facebook

LAYTON — Police arrested 20-year-old William Meyer on Monday in connection with threats against Layton Hills Mall customers posted on Facebook.

Officers responded to the mall at 4:30 p.m. Sunday after receiving information that a man had posted threats to stab people there.

“Having photos of Meyer, officers positioned themselves at mall entrances and throughout the mall until the mall closed at 6 p.m.,” police said in a news release. “During this time, additional officers were following leads to locate Meyer at a location away from the mall.”

Meyer was arrested without incident about 4:45 p.m. Monday after officers located him at a Layton residence.

He was interviewed by detectives and then booked into the Davis County Jail on charges of a terroristic threat and on a local warrant.
