Zions Bank in Farmington robbed; suspect on loose

FARMINGTON — Police are investigating the Wednesday robbery of Zions Bank in Farmington.

Police were summoned to the bank near the intersection of Somerset Street and Main Street around 5:55 p.m., said Farmington Police Chief Wayne Hansen.

A man told a teller to fill a bag with money and then fled from the bank. He didn’t show a weapon, Hansen said.

Witnesses reported the robber left the bank in a tan-colored sedan. Witnesses also told police the same car was spotted in a subdivision before the robbery. A police K-9 unit tracked the suspect’s scent from the bank to the neighborhood, but the car was not there.

The robber is described as about 6 feet to 6 feet 2 inches tall, in his late teens to early 20s and having a young-sounding voice, Hansen said. He was wearing blue jeans, a blue hoodie and some sort of cover over part of his face.

Anyone with information about the robbery should contact Farmington police at 801-451-5453.
