I watched a program on PBS called "The Other America" that was about the late chief justice of the Supreme Court, Earl Warren's having his black chauffeur, George drive him to some of our historic Civil War battlefields. After a full day of visiting a few battlefields, Justice Warren asked George to please pick him up the next morning at 8 a.m.
When Justice Warren goes to the car the next morning, he finds George asleep. He asks him why he is sleeping in the car and George replies that there is not a hotel or motel within 50 miles that will allow a black person to stay. Fast forward to 2013 when allowing gays in the Boy Scouts has the same feel. It's kind of like one step forward and two steps backward.
