Outdoor recreation bill advances to Senate

SALT LAKE CITY — Legislation to create an Outdoor Recreation Office has cleared its first political hurdle.

A Senate committee gave a favorable recommendation to SB 73, which would create the new office as a division of the Department of Economic Development. The measure is sponsored by Sen. Jerry Stevenson, R-Layton.

The bill now moves to the full Senate.

The new office would focus on promoting recreational assets of the Beehive State.
