The Utah Grizzlies have been interacting with the community in a positive way in February.
The Grizzlies just finished Military Weekend with games against the Alaska Aces last week. Lieutenant Colonel David G. Shoemaker, the Commander of the: 421st Fighter Squadron, 388th Operations Group, 388th Fighter Wing at Hill Air Force Base dropped the puck to start the game.
Earlier, Utah players visited veterans at the VA Hospital in Salt Lake City.
On Saturday, the Grizzlies lost to the Aces but raised an all-time high of $20,950 in the post-game jersey auction with all proceeds going to fight breast cancer in Utah during their “Pink in the Rink” game.
Evan Stoflet’s jersey raised $3,250 to lead the team.
All Jazzed up
The Utah Jazz will celebrate 30 years of the Jr. Jazz program with Jr. Jazz Night on when the team hosts the Atlanta Hawks at EnergySolutions Arena.
In 1983, 7,133 kids participated in the program; in 2013, more than 55,000 are involved, making it the NBA’s largest and longest-running youth league.
The program has welcomed over 1.3 million participants and 350,000 volunteers in 30 years.
