SALT LAKE CITY -- Local lawmakers shared personal experiences as Vietnam veterans on Friday, and the House and Senate passed a resolution to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War.
Sen. Scott Jenkins, R-Plain City, talked about being hassled while on leave during the war and said he is still amazed by the negative reaction many servicemen faced in coming home from the Asian conflict.
Rep. Richard Greenwood, R-Roy, talked about coming home from Asia and being in San Francisco with another serviceman when someone spit on them.
"That hurts, especially when you're only 20 years old. We served our country proudly and have nothing be ashamed of," Greenwood said.
