Chase for Utah State Chariot Racing Association title Sunday

OGDEN — A trio of teams will go into the gates Sunday afternoon in the chase for the Utah State Chariot Racing Championships at the Weber County Fairgrounds.

Racing begins at 1 p.m., with the first division championship race the final race of the day.

Vane Racing, out of the Beehive Racing Association, posted the fastest time of the day on Saturday, winning in 22.42 seconds to top last year’s champion, Ekstrom and Gift.

The other two winners to advance to today’s finale are Jenson, Ropelato and Wright out of the Skyline Association, and Dewey and Dana from the Wasatch Slopes Association.

State association president Shannon Demler said the track held up well despite the heavy snowfall on Saturday, and is in pretty good shape for the finals.
