Brigham City driver crashes into truck, killing two men

LOGAN - A sport utility vehicle driven by a Brigham City resident crashed head-on into a pick-up truck Saturday night killing two men, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.

The accident happened about 6 p.m. on State Road 30 in Cache County.

Alfonzo E. Vazquez, 47, of Brigham City, was traveling west in 2003 GMC Envoy when he lost control, crossed the center line and struck a 1991 Nissan pick-up truck heading east occupied by driver Terry K. Barnett, 70, and passenger Nicholas C Barnett, 33, both of Logan, the UHP said in a report. Both men in the pickup were killed.

Vazquez was transported to Logan Regional Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Speed is believed to have been a contributing factor in the crash, said the report. Information was not immediately available regarding whether a citation was issued to Vazquez.

At the time of the crash, State Road 30 was snow covered.
