Cherril Ann Solomon Low Mitchell will celebrate her 90th birthday on March 2. An open house will be held in her honor from 2 to 4 p.m. on March 2 at the Country Pines Assisted Living Retirement Home, 1748 W. 1800 North, Clinton. No gifts.
The second of eight children, she was born in Granger to Melvin and Evereen Solomon. She married John Warren Low in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Logan Temple on July 9, 1941. He died Aug. 30, 1953. Their daughters and spouses are Diane and (Clint deceased) Hansen, Valerie and Richard Walker, Cherrie and Andy Burgess, and Joyce and Dan Greenwell. She has 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
On Sept. 19, 1962, she married James Mitchell. He died April 12, 1993. Her step family includes Joyce (deceased) and Paul Brown, Georgia Ann (deceased) and Lynn (deceased) Hutching, Kenneth and Cheryle Mitchell, Fred and Laura Mitchell, Merlin and Jeanine Mitchell, 19 grandchildren and 48 great-grandchildren.
As a member of the LDS Church, she served in many callings as Relief Society president, Young Women's leader, Primary leader, visiting teacher and extractions. She is a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She has enjoyed being a homemaker and cook. She specialized in potato salad, donuts, chocolates and whole wheat bread. She also was a seamstress, embroidering temple aprons and crocheting afghans.
In May 2004, she was awarded the title of "Mother of the Year" for Clinton, and a celebration was held in her honor.
