Gordon Jay “doc J” Butler will celebrate his 80th birthday. Family and friends may attend an open house in his honor from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Marriott-Slaterville City Hall on March 1. No gifts.
He was born to Carl L. and Bernice H. Butler on March 1, 1933. He married Carole Parker on May 18, 1956, in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Logan Temple.
Their children and spouses are Jeanne and John Clifton, Michael and Gwen Butler, and Joni Kent.
He is a graduate of Weber High School, Weber State College, the University of Utah, the University of Washington and Loma Linda University. He has served communities in Utah, Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Missouri as a citizen, professional and religious leader.
He retired at the age of 70 and served a two-year mission as a medical advisor for the LDS Church in the northern Mexico area.
