Ogden resident celebrates100 years
Helen Simpson Cartwright will celebrate her 100th birthday. A private party will be held in her honor from 2 to 4 p.m. today, Feb. 24, at the Aspen Care Center, Ogden.
She was born on Feb. 24, 1913, to John and Vinetta Simpson in Ogden, where she has lived and worked for a century.
She married Arthur Cartwright in Ogden.
She was born just before World War I and a year after the Titanic sank. She has lived to witness women gain the right to vote, our country go through a devastating Depression, World War II, the Korean and Vietnam wars and the technological revolution of the ‘90s. All the while, she dedicated herself to her family and career, which included Keely’s Cafe, L.R. Samuels and ZCMI.
She is an avid gardener and enjoys maintaining her roses and tulips.
