Melba Smith Datwyler will celebrate her 95th birthday in St. George with her daughters Donna Lane, Gail Waters, Barbara Merrill-Muzzy and Charlyn Oyler.
She was born March 4, 1918, in Marion, Idaho. She grew up in Melba and Oakley, Idaho, and later moved to Logan.
She married Charles Datwyler (deceased) on July 22, 1934. They moved to Ogden in 1947 and lived in the Ogden area until she moved to The Beehive Independent Living Center in St. George in 2009.
She dedicated many hours to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Primary organization. She worked for several years at the Ogden High School lunch program. She says that she remembers and celebrates all the changes she has seen in her 95 years. She enjoys staying current on world events by reading the newspaper and watching the news on television.
She has four daughters, 16 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
