CENTERVILLE -- Utah Highway Patrol officials say a fatal crash here was the result of nearly stopped traffic on Interstate15 after the highway was shut down following an officer-involved shooting in Kaysville.
A Utah Highway Patrol news release states that the 8:19 p.m. accident at Mile Marker 319 occurred when a northbound Subaru Legacy came into the slow-traffic area too fast to safely stop.
"The Subaru veered into the left emergency lane and then overcorrected towards the right side," states the release. "The Subaru hit a passenger vehicle and then its driver side impacted with the back end of a semi-trailer."
The Subaru continued farther toward the right side of the road as its driver was ejected from the vehicle.
Troopers were continuing to investigate the accident Monday night.
Officials were notifying next of kin Monday night and planned to release more information in the morning.
