SYRACUSE — City officials confirmed an internal investigation is under way concerning former Police Lt. Tracy Jensen.
Police Chief Garret Atkin said an investigation is being conducted, but said he could not discuss specifics.
Mayor Jamie Nagle, City Manager Robert Rice and City Attorney Will Carlson also declined to discuss specifics of the investigation.
Atkin said there is not a criminal investigation at this time, only an internal investigation.
Jensen, who had been with Syracuse Police Department for at least 15 years, turned in his letter of resignation Feb. 20, Rice said.
Rice said Jensen did not offer a reason for his leaving the police department.
Jensen, contacted by the Standard-Examiner on Wednesday, declined to comment.
Davis County Attorney Troy Rawlings declined to comment on whether Syracuse officials have asked his office to investigate any possible criminal activity.
“But it is usually a case of when there is an internal affairs investigation by a department, and they deem there is a possible criminal activity, then they will usually ask us to look into it,” Rawlings said.
