SALT LAKE CITY -- A bill to help the state stop losing money in the sale of surplus property has passed the Senate.

SB 68 privatizes the state personal property division, said Sen. Todd Weiler, R-Woods Cross, and will put the state in a position to potentially profit from the sale of surplus items and property.

"We might be able to make money off our property sales, instead of losing money," Weiler said of the move.

The bill passed with a unanimous vote and now heads to the House.
