SOUTH WEBER -- A mechanical failure stranded a semitrailer and slowed the commute in both directions along U.S. Highway 89 at the mouth of Weber Canyon around 7 a.m. Thursday.
The truck was in the process of pulling out of a business along the highway when it experienced a break in its air line, forcing the brakes to lock up, Weber County Sheriff's Sgt. Wayne Smith said.
As a result, the truck was stranded while straddling both sides of the highway and blocking a single lane of travel in each direction, Smith said.
It took about an hour before a mechanic could arrive and repair the truck. Normal traffic resumed shortly thereafter.
