SALT LAKE CITY -- A bill opening the door for open adoptions for foster children has passed the Senate.

The Senate on Thursday approved SB 155, which will facilitate a new open adoption program for kids in the state's Division of Child and Family Services. Open adoptions give potential visitation rights to biological parents, even though the adoptive parents hold the rights as the legal parents.

The bill now advances to the House.
