Water tumbling over boulders, splashing against rocks and rushing into a pond below can bring a relaxing feeling to a homeowner's backyard. Water features can be added to the landscape by Andrescapes.
Sloping landscapes and hillsides can sometimes be a challenge to homeowners. Those who have recently purchased a newly constructed home have a clean slate to begin their landscaping, while those in older homes may also need an update on the yard or a way to make their yard more useable. And Andrescapes is a business ready to help.
"We create designs that give more yard space. We take out slopes," explained Dave Andre, owner of Andrescapes of Layton. "We can make it flat."
They can correct the grade of the land and make the yard more functional by designing and moving huge boulders.
While making the yard flat, they build retaining walls to make the yard safe and visibly aesthetic, which in turn can give more value to the home.
Andre started working for a landscape company when he was 19 years old, and after a few years went into business for himself. Because he has a family background of artists, he knew his skills would transfer to artistically create beautiful landscapes with rock work.
A rock wall brings timeless character to a yard and can define different areas of the landscape. Stone staircases are used to move from one area to another, and waterfalls are created along remaining slopes.
"We have grown to be a good, stable company by keeping prices low," Andre said.
Customers may go to the rock yard to pick out their own stone for their yard, or they can rely on Andre to choose the right color combinations.
It doesn't matter what size job you have. You may want just a few accent boulders in the yard -- or maybe a whole yard makeover is in your plans. If an outdoor fire pit is part of your landscape dreams, it can be accomplished too.
"We can do a lot with people's yards when they are stuck on a hillside, or we can do old wall replacement. Retaining walls done with boulders will last forever," Andre said. "We can add boulders throughout your planter beds."
And flagstone patios can be placed either in the front yard to welcome visitors or in the backyard for privacy.
"We get real creative with fireplaces," he said.
A job can range from $900 to $20,000 or more, depending on the type of design and work that is done.
If a customer reads this story and mentions it to Andrescapes they will get a 15 percent discount on whatever they have done.
Do-it-yourselfers are also welcome. Services are offered for those who want to do the work themselves.
"You can get our products. We deliver gravel and different products," said Andre.
