New edition of LDS scriptures released

SALT LAKE CITY — The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has released a new edition of its English-language scriptures that’s been eight years in the making.

The Church says the new edition being released in digital formats includes revised study aids, adjustments to chapter and section headings, new photos and updated maps.

It also has spelling adjustments, such as changing “stedfast” to “steadfast,” and corrections to punctuation typos.

A print version of the new edition is set for release in August 2013.

The Church’s scriptures include the Holy Bible, the Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants, and the Pearl of Great Price.

The last update to the English language versions was completed in 1981.
