UHP to deploy 'Slow Down: Crash Ahead' signs

SALT LAKE CITY-- Utah troopers are practically begging people to steer clear of them when they make traffic stops or respond to accidents.

So far this year, 16 troopers have been struck by passing vehicles on the roadside, up from 12 incidents for all of last year.

KSL reports  that troopers are adopting one solution out of frustration.

The Utah Highway Patrol is ordering 350 portable road signs that read, "Slow Down: Crash Ahead."

Troopers will carry the fold-up signs in the trunks of their cruisers. One trooper can assist another by putting up a sign to give traffic plenty of notice.
