Officer shoots dog at Ogden residence

OGDEN — Police are investigating an officer shooting of a dog at a residence.

Ogden Duty Lt. Will Cragun said police were responding to a report of a man with a gun on the 2400 block of Jackson Avenue at about 5:30 p.m. Sunday.

Three officers were at the home when a dog attacked an officer.

Cragun said when the dog started to attack a second officer, that officer shot and killed the animal.

The dog was either a German shepherd or a mix with some German shepherd, Cragun said.

Police are investigating both the original call of a man wielding a gun and the incident of the shooting.

Cragun said the officer who was attacked did not receive serious injuries.
