Cora Osmond and Adelbert “Del” Thinnes of Bear River City will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary. Family and friends may attend an open house in their honor from 4 to 6 p.m. March 9 at the Bear River Civic Center 5695 N. 700 West. This will also be a celebration of his 85th birthday.
Married in Elko, Nev., on Feb. 3, 1953, their vows were solemnized in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Logan Temple on Feb. 17, 1958.
Born July 17, 1927, he graduated from Ogden High School. He retired after 30 years with the U.S. Postal Service.
She graduated from Star Valley High School in Wyoming. She was a stay-at-home mom for many years, taking in ironing and baby-sitting to supplement their income. Later she worked for the Internal Revenue Service and retired after 22 years.
They served an LDS mission to Jacksonville, Fla. They were ordinance workers in the Ogden Temple and have served in many ward and stake capacities in the LDS Church. He was ward clerk and on the high council. She served in the Young Women and Relief Society presidencies. She enjoyed teaching the Gospel Doctrine class and taught in other organizations. She was a Toastmaster and won many awards.
Their children and spouses are Clare Womack (deceased) and Barbara Wise, Larry and Patsy Harris Womack, Lynda Womack Hadley, Gary and Juana Henshaw Womack, Rick and Cheryl Thompson Thinnes, Ron and Anna Garcia Thinnes, LaVerna and Robert Gray, Randy and Stella Cruz Thinnes, Dixie Thinnes, and Debbie and Paul Widdison. They have 42 grandchildren, 82 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
