Daniel L. Daniels of Ogden celebrated his 80th birthday with a dinner hosted by his children and grandchildren at the Maddox Ranch House Restaurant on Feb. 9.
He was born Jan. 18, 1933, in Malad, Idaho, where he also attended school. After graduation, he moved to Ogden and worked for Swift & Co.
He married Betty Lou Jones on Dec. 7, 1951, in Malad.
He served in the U.S. Army Chemical Corps during the Korean conflict. After his discharge from the Army, he and his wife returned to Ogden, where he returned to Swift, retiring after 20 years. He then worked for Consolidated Freight Co. in Salt Lake City as manager of the parts department for 20 years. He retired in 1995.
Since retiring, they have done extensive traveling to all 50 states and many foreign countries.
Their children and spouses are D. Jeffrey and Marsha Daniels, Blackfoot, Idaho; Tyler and Amy Daniels, Boise, Idaho; and Teresa and Hugh Shaum, Eden. They have 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
