Neil and Sharon Berrett Ballif of Pleasant View were married 60 years ago on March 4, 1953, in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Salt Lake Temple by Apostle LeGrand Richards. Both recently turned 80. A cruise with their children and spouses celebrated both events.
Their children and spouses are Brad Ballif, Jolene and Brad Cragun, Brent and Cindy Ballif, and Blake and Shelly Ballif. They have 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was drafted into the Army during the Korean War. He attended Weber State College, then Utah State University, earning a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in business administration from the University of Utah. After 36 years in information systems for the U.S. Department of Defense, he worked for Unisys Corp. as a consultant.
She attended Brigham Young University. She was a mother and homemaker, and occasionally worked part time as a substitute teacher in the Weber School District and Wahlquist Junior High School LDS Seminary. After her children were grown, she was a counselor in the school of business at Weber State College. She has written articles that have been published, written and directed many road shows, skits, plays and programs for church events.
Both have served in many church positions. They served as the first office couple in the Russia Moscow Mission; he was also a counselor to the mission president. They served in the Ogden Temple for 10 years.
They have enjoyed traveling to every state and several foreign countries, and spending time with family at their cabin on Bear Lake.
