Woman dies after being hit by car in S. Salt Lake

SOUTH SALT LAKE — A 26-year-old woman has died of her injuries after being hit by a car in South Salt Lake over the weekend.

Police say the woman was trying to cross over to a bus stop on South State Street a little after 7 p.m. Saturday when she was hit by a Toyota Prius.

She was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead shortly after. Officials identified her as Salt Lake City resident Maria DeAquino.

South Salt Lake police spokesman Gary Keller says DeAquino wasn’t in a crosswalk at the time of the crash.
