Attempted homicide reported in South Ogden apartment

SOUTH OGDEN -- An investigation into an attempted homicide Monday night in South Ogden is under way.

Around 9:45 p.m., Weber Area Dispatch received a 911 call from a man stating someone had just kicked in his door and shot him, South Ogden police said in a prepared statement.

The incident occurred at Villa South Apartment Complex, 3750 S. Grant Ave.

Officers found the victim inside his apartment; however, the shooter had fled.

The victim had a gunshot wound, but was conscious and able to speak with officers.

He described the assailant as a Hispanic male, wearing a blue bandanna over his face, a white hat, a dark-colored shirt and white basketball-type pants with a blue stripe. The gun was described as a black handgun.

No other occupants were inside the apartment at the time of the shooting.

The victim was transported to an area hospital.

He is reported to be in stable condition.

South Ogden Police officers and detectives are actively investigating the attempted homicide. A motive for the shooting is unknown.
