Police ID couple hit by car in St. George; 1 dead

ST. GEORGE — Authorities have identified a couple hit after a two-car crash sent a vehicle onto a sidewalk in St. George.

Police say 56-year-old David Henson was pronounced dead after being airlifted to a hospital Monday. His 56-year-old wife, Leslee Henson, was taken to the hospital in serious condition.

The crash happened Monday morning on Dixie Drive, near Sunbrook Golf Course.

St. George Police Sgt. Craig Harding said witnesses reported a Toyota Celica driving at a high rate of speed, with the driver apparently looking down before rear-ending a Subaru.

Harding says the Subaru was then pushed onto a sidewalk, where it hit two pedestrians from behind.
