School appreciative of story honoring retiring secretary

Editor,

Friends of school secretary, Marianne Hernandez were so happy to see her so vividly featured in the Standard-Examiner on Feb. 21, “‘My heart is full’:Longtime elementary secretary retires.”

What a great example of service and support she has been to T.O. Smith Elementary School! So many times, custodians, staff assistants, volunteers and secretaries don’t receive the public thanks they deserve. Principals, teachers and students couldn’t really do the job they do without them.

Hurray for the paper, for such a great way to say thanks so deserved, to her and others like her who serve our schools.

Please keep it up.
