Editor,
Did everyone see the new BearCat that Davis county has just purchased for their sheriff’s department? The BearCat is 9-ton, military-grade, armored vehicle with a turret, and bullet proof windows. It was shown on the front page of the Standard-Examiner Mar. 6 (“Mean Machine).
I was shocked to see that Davis County had purchased such a thing. It cost 250,000 taxpayer dollars, and this deadly monster is now being used against U.S. citizens. It really troubles me to see this kind of firepower used this way. Just what kind of “goose-stepping” mentality would purchase such thing?
In my opinion, heads should roll over this BearCat purchase.
If you don’t think we live in a “police state,” maybe this deadly monster will change your minds. I think Davis County should paint a swastika on it, so that people can see just what we are up against.
Shame on Davis county. What will it buy next? Apache helicopters to patrol the skies? I’m sure it could justify it some how. I wouldn’t be a bit surprised to learn that Davis County gives promotions, and bonuses to the trigger men.
