NORTH OGDEN -- The North Ogden Police Department is encouraging citizens to register their cell phone numbers and email addresses with the Weber County reverse notification system.
The reverse notification system alerts citizens of evacuations, missing persons and other emergency situations, according to a news release from the department. Currently, the notification system relies on a 911 database to alert residents and businesses on land line phones, but police are hoping to also reach citizens through cell phones and email.
Citizens can register up to six phone numbers and two email addresses, the release states. Contact information given will be linked to home addresses to provide notifications to people specific to areas they live.
The notification system serves all of Weber County. Citizens can register for the notification system through the North Ogden police website.
