Buddy James Spendlove of Ogden celebrated his 80th birthday with his family and friends at Jeremiah's Restaurant on March 9.
He was born March 13, 1933, to Sophia Lythgoe and Lorin Spendlove in Ogden.
His brothers and sisters are Roger Spendlove, Grant Spendlove, Margaret Hancock, Moline McEwan and Janice Spendlove. He attended Mound Fort School through the 10th grade, then attended Ogden High School. He joined the Navy and served two years in Texas. He returned home and worked for the Hotel Ben Lomond as a bell hop. He also worked at Hill Air Force Base, Marquardt, Boeing, Hercules, Williams International and the Flying J Corp. He retired from Williams International and the Flying J Corp.
He married Jeanette Barkdull Engstrom in Las Vegas on Nov. 27, 1958.
Their four children and spouses are Scott and Jeri Engstrom, Diane and Ron Carter, Kelly Vigil and Tod Spendlove. They have seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
His hobbies are playing duplicate bridge, golf, bowling and cribbage with a longtime friend. He also enjoys going to Wendover. He has spent several weeks during the winter each year visiting with friends who live in Yuma, Ariz.
