SALT LAKE CITY -- The Senate on Wednesday approved legislation to limit the access of a rapist to any child conceived as a result of that act.
HB 152 now heads to Gov. Gary Herbert for consideration.
The measure closes a loophole that currently allows a court to grant rapists visitation with children conceived from an unlawful sex act. The bill also states a child conceived from a sexual offense may receive financial support from the convicted person's biological parents.
