Plain City honors retiring firefighter

PLAIN CITY -- A full house recently came out to honor retiring firefighter Galen Lord, following his 30 years of service with the city’s fire department.

Chief Jeremy Crowton said Lord’s retirement was a monumental occasion because he was one of the founders of the department in 1982. Crowton said Lord has put in volunteer efforts for 30 years.

“Everyone in the community appreciates him,” said Crowton, “And we want to make sure he knows we are more than happy he put in those years of service.”

Mayor Jay Jenkins presented Lord with a yellow firefighter helmet with his name on it. The words on the helmet were: “Thank you for proudly serving the residents of Plain City for 30 years.”

Lord thanked the city and said, “It has been 30 years of ups and downs, good times and bad times. There has been a few calls that were scary.”

Lord also thanked friends and family in the crowd for their support.
