'Mean machine' will help defend Constitution

As a Davis County resident, I find it to be amusing that so many poorly informed readers (living outside Davis County) are upset that the elected Davis County sheriff, sworn to protect and defend the U.S. Constitution, has purchased an armored vehicle. And yet, not one of the objectors seem to be upset that the unelected Department of Homeland Security officials have recently purchased thousands of automatic rifles, 2,700 armored vehicles and 1.6 billion rounds of hollow-point bullets for domestic use within the United States of America.

After reading one letter to the editor regarding “BearCat”, it seems to me the author is trying to paint a swastika on the wrong target (March 18, “Davis should paint a swastika on ‘mean machine’”). I think I will stick with the Davis County sheriff and support of the U.S. Constitution.
