Chariot competitions to start this weekend

OGDEN — The world’s top chariot racing teams are making their annual trip to the Weber County Fairgrounds for a shot at glory.

Teams from Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado and California will battle for top spots in six divisions of action. The first day of racing is this Saturday, with the second round on Sunday.

CHARIOT RACING

Following a break, the final three rounds of racing with be March 29-31, with the championship round of racing on Sunday, March 31.

Races start at noon each day.

Teams will compete in two-, three- and four-team races as they winnow down the divisions to the top three teams to race in the final.

Jenson, Ropelato and Wright out of the Skyline Association won the 2013 Utah state championship in February and will be ready to compete.

Don and Ryan is the Idaho State champion and will also figure to be one of the favorites.

A year ago, Parkinson and Johnson, the 2012 Idaho state champion took home the title.

A Utah team had won the world title for several years prior to the 2012 competition.

Concessions will be available at the track.
