Editor,
I am writing this letter out of pure disgust and disdain for something I saw! Our precious flag is hanging on the northeast corner of 42nd Street and Harrison at a construction site. This flag, that I am so proud of, and that represents a great deal to me because several members of my family fought for the freedoms it represents, is hanging on a flagpole and is filthy dirty and is very tattered and torn! This is disappointing and disgusting to me.
I was so angry over seeing the condition of the symbol that we as American stand for, that I stopped and I was told that “some other lady stopped a couple of weeks ago and was told, she could take down if wanted to.” The foreman of the job was not available for me to talk with. Why hasn’t it been taken down by those people in charge?
What kind of company, with any pride in being American, let’s a flag in such terrible condition hang at the workplace?
We are Americans! Let us do what we can to honor our country and more importantly, those among us who have fought, lost a good portion of their lives, and gave it all to preserve our nation. Let’s show pride in our flag!
