WILLARD BAY -- Crews have cleaned up an estimated 506 barrels of the diesel fuel spilled this week at Willard Bay State Park.
In a news release Friday night, the Willard Bay Unified Command said it is believed that 100 to 150 barrels of fuel remain in the park. About 90 people are helping with the cleanup. Water samples outside the containment area have shown very low levels of compounds related to the leak, the release states. The Utah Department of Environmental Quality Division of Water Quality will continue to test the water.
Utah State Parks and Recreation has put out buoys in the North Marina to stop boaters from interfering with pipeline release response efforts.
