OGDEN — Scrambling to draw even for much of the match took its toll on the St. Joseph Jayhawks.
St. Joseph and rival Rowland Hall battled to a 1-1 draw in double overtime to highlight Friday’s Region 17 boys soccer action at Lew Joseph Field.
Rowland Hall grabbed a lead early on a goal by Junior Zoutomou.
Host St. Joseph had several opportunities to tie things up, but couldn’t finish.
Finally, with six minutes to go in regulation, David Donlevy fed Oswald Cruz for the tying goal.
Neither team scored in OT as St. Joseph keeper Mitch Koehler kept things organized.
“Of course this isn’t what we wanted, but given their early goal, this was a good result,” St. Joseph coach Derek Tate said. “The guys worked hard to even things up.”
