SALT LAKE CITY -- A West Valley City man has been charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of his roommate earlier this month.
Roberto Romero also was charged Friday with felony counts of obstructing justice and possession of a firearm by a restricted person in the March 11 shooting of 42-year-old Jesus Velez.
According to police, a man who lives in the house said he heard three to four shots. He also said Romero and Velez were arguing and he heard Romero threaten Velez.
The medical examiner says Velez was shot at least six times - twice in his head and four times in his body.
Police say Romero is living illegally in the U.S.
Romero is being held in the Salt Lake County Jail in lieu of a $1 million bond.
