ROY -- Police on Tuesday night arrested a teen who allegedly made threats of having a gun after stealing a pair of headphones.
Roy Police Sgt. Curtis Gibson said the suspect used classified ads to make an arrangement with a seller to buy the headphones Tuesday night at Roy West Park. But when the seller met up with him around 10:20 p.m., the suspect snatched the headphones without paying, then drove off in a car with two other teens. The suspect soon after sent the seller a text saying not to alert police because he had a gun.
The seller contacted police anyway, Gibson said, and police ended up pulling over the car the teens were in because of expired tags.
One of the youths then ran, Gibson said, but police arrested the robbery suspect and one other youth, both of whom are 16 or 17 years old.
Gibson said robbery charges are likely to follow for the teen who stole the headphones, and police late Wednesday were still trying to locate the teen who fled.
The investigation of all three youths is ongoing.
