SALT LAKE CITY -- Smartphone users will now be able to tell exactly when their Frontrunner, TRAX or bus ride is going to show up, even if it's late.
Google announced Wednesday that it's adding real-time updates from Utah Transit Authority to its Google maps service. UTA is one of three systems with the live updates - the other two are the New York subway system and Washington D.C.'s Metro system.
Google Maps already incorporates UTA's schedule, but the new change means the software will now reflect variations in that schedule.
Google official Sierra Lovelace says UTA provided the company with a live feed of its master control system, which keeps track of buses and trains.
The company says Utah was chosen largely because it was ready and willing to provide the live information.
