The March 25 "Thumbs up, thumbs down" editorial states: "Thumbs down to our ailing national budget and the stress due to its constant growth of entitlements. America is turning into a "retirement home society" as more and more of our expenditures and debt go to programs such as Medicare and Social Security."
Shame of the Standard for even suggesting that Social Security and Medicare have caused our financial woes.
The workers of our nation, who are the back-bone and reason for our economic prosperity, are entitled to these benefits. They paid for them through their years of labor and financial contributions. Our elected "thieves" stole the funds to support their give-a-way programs and years of bad decisions.
If truth be know, there are many millionaires, and that includes congressmen, etc., who have dipped into the fund that the common workers of America should be using for their senior years. Others that never paid a dime into the system also dip into the workers funds.
